Course Overview

This course is suitable for all those who may be asked to undertake ear care whether they hold a professional registration or a part of the wider workforce.


Objectives

Attendees complete a theoretical study day

Outcomes will enable attendees to understand:-

§ Be able to correctly use an otoscope for examining the ear.

§ Identify common minor ear abnormalities and ailments.

§ Understand treatment of minor ear problems using best practice rationales.

§ Correctly irrigate an ear for cerumen impaction and be aware of the complications

§ Review of anatomy and physiology

§ Examination of the ear using an otoscope

§ Foreign bodies

§ Earache

§ Infection

§ Earwax blockage (cerumen impaction)

§ Ear irrigation (formally known as Ear Syringing)
