NHS trust Board meeting open to the public

Posted on: 7th March 2023

LCHS runs services across the whole of Lincolnshire, helping people to manage their health at home or in the community through general and specialist nursing and therapy.

The Trust also provides urgent care services throughout the county and inpatient services at community hospitals in Gainsborough, Louth, Skegness and Spalding.

The Board of Directors meeting will be held online via MS Teams and starts at 10am.

During the meeting we will hear a from the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team who will talk about Alexa’s story. Alexa was diagnosed with selective mutism in 2021 and frequently accessed our new service.

Selective mutism is a severe anxiety disorder, when a child can speak comfortably in some situations but is unable to speak in certain social situations, such as with classmates at school.

Alexa’s selective mutism has now resolved and her Mum, Natasha, is keen to raise awareness of selective mutism and stress the importance of early intervention. The team will discuss the support available to children and their families, share more about Alexa’s story and the meeting will hear from Natasha too.

Elaine Baylis, Chair of LCHS, said: "Our board meetings provide the public with an opportunity to find out more about the organisation, the services we provide and how well we are performing. The role of our Board of Directors is to ensure that we are providing the highest quality care and improving the health of local people by providing services that reflect the needs of the communities we serve.

"Engaging with our patients and local community is crucial and we encourage people to get involved. We start the meeting with a question and answer session for members of the public, with questions submitted in advance."

If you would like to submit a question for the meeting, please do so before midnight on Sunday, 12 March, by completing the form on the Trust’s website or by emailing lhnt.lchsecomms@nhs.net.
